Timelord

Second Chance's Timelord

Biography

Timelord (nicknamed 'Carson') was one of 19 horses and ponies surrendered to Second Chance from the RSPCA of Western Australia, all the animals coming from the same original owner. Second Chance and the RSPCA worked together for some weeks leading up to the rescue and Second Chance had also assisted the Animal Welfare Unit over 12 months before on some of these equines, collecting evidence and offering our equine knowledge to assist with the investigation. Eventually the owner opted to surrender a large number of equines as a part of an operation to reduce herd numbers to a manageable level. The equines were collected by Second Chance volunteers and fostered immediately into specialist care.

Timelord was purchased as a stallion from an Eastern States stud with the intent to breed him here in Western Australia. We are not aware that he has actually sired any foals and as per Second Chance policy, he was gelded as soon as practical. He arrived with neglected hooves, underweight with a body score of 1 and with a heavy worm burden. We were informed that Timelord along with a number of others were being kept in a barn in filthy, uncleaned stalls with nothing but putrid green water to drink, not recieving turnout or enough feed to keep him in good condition.

As a result of his living conditions, Timelord has also suffered emotional trauma leaving him very nervous and untrusting which along with his physical needs is being worked on by Second Chance.
