Romeo

Second Chance's Romance

Biography

Romeo was surrendered to Second Chance Horse Rescue by his owner as she knew she wasn't coping. She loved this sweet old man dearly but her equine knowledge wasn't sufficient to care for him properly and she was also struggling financially to manage him. When she was kicked out of her agistment and the RSPCA called about this fellow, it was the last straw. Thankfully the RSPCA Inspector suggested that she call us and Romeo came home the next day.

Although his previous owner thought he was 8 years old, he was actually 18. His brands have been traced and he was born in 1988 and registered with the Australian Thoroughbred Stud Book. This calm Thoroughbred gelding obviously hadn't seen a Vet, Farrier or Dentist for some years however this was quickly rectified and he has really blossomed!

Recent information has come to light. Romeo, we have discovered, had 40 racing starts. He won 6 races, placed 2nd twice and placed 3rd twice. He won $28,010 throughout his career. We are researching further to see if we can find out what happened to him after this time and how he ended up in Western Australia.
