Nova

Biography |
This sweet mare was one of 6 animals we were called out to when their owner passed away. Second Chance received an emergency call from the WA Donkey Society who had been called to pick up two donkeys but what they had found had shocked and horrified them, and they were not in a position to deal with what they had found. Nova had foundered badly and was in a lot of pain. Her hooves, as you can see in the photos, had overgrown horribly and this poor little mare was struggling to move. But she had spirit, and she was still bright eyed, responsive and willing to try for us so we organised immediately to have her transported to a specialist farrier for immediate treatment. Nova has begun her long, long road to recovery and we estimate it may be up to 12 months or more before she can make a full recovery from such long term neglect.
