Second Chance's Naboo

Biography

Naboo and his companion came to our attention via the RSPCA. They had been called out regarding the poor condition of a third horse on the property. It was suggested that the owners may consider surrendering the horses over to SC for care and they contacted us as they had run out of feed for the horses and were unable to buy more. The horse that the initial RSPCA call was about, was a lease horse and we've been told he was returned to his owner. Naboo and his other mate came to us.

At the time of surrender, Naboo was three years old however due to malnutrition, he had his growth stunted a little, was very small and looked a great deal younger. He was unable to eat properly as he was 'capping' which means his baby teeth were being pushed out by his growing adult teeth and as he'd never had dental care, this made eating far too painful for him.

Naboo's owners also had not provided ad lib water in the paddock. They had a trough on their front lawn and would let the animals out daily for a drink when they remembered. Naboo and his companion were collected on the Sunday morning, they had not had water since Friday. Naboo was also their main riding horse, and at the age of 3, with a painful mouth and inadequate feed, was being ridden daily and was receiving a fair bit of hard work.

Naboo has a very placid and sweet nature and with proper feeding and now with good dental care and worming, has has filled out and grown a little, and is becoming a superb pleasure horse for his new family.
