Lucky
Second Chance's Irish Luck |
|
Biography |
Lucky came to us when his owners had no other choice but to surrender him for his own sake. Early in the morning it seems Lucky decided that the grass was greener on the other side of the fence and he got himself tangled up and cut both hind legs, the right hind was cut to the bone. Lucky's owner was not an existing client of any local Vets and did not have the money to pay the fees and so found our number and called us that evening to see if we could help. After discussing the situation with her, we acted as quickly as possible to have Lucky surrendered to our care and taken straight to Belvoir Equine Clinic for treatment, approximately 27 hours after the injury occured. The initial diagnosis was positive, and Lucky had a good chance at healing well. Lucky's injuries healed very well under the expert nursing by his carers and he has put on weight and now looks much more comfortable. After searching for Lucky's brands it seems he has never
raced. Under saddle he is sensible and willing - even a little lazy at times - but very green and unbalanced. He also can get quite herd-bound which is something we are working on
to give him more confidence with working on his own.
