Eclipse

Second Chance's Eclipse

Biography

Eclipse was surrendered to Second Chance by his rescuer. She had once owned him and a forced sale due to financial pressure saw him leave her care early in the year. She went to visit him very recently and found her beloved old horse severely dehydrated with nothing but moist algea in the very bottom of his trough. He'd been without water for approximately 10 days, only surviving on the last of the puddles in his paddock and the wet algea. His hooves were badly neglected, and she found he was timid and reluctant to go near her. He had been untouched and uncared for for the entire time he'd been with the new owner, and had been completely isolated from other animals and people for that time.

Without hesitation she had him signed back over to her and brought him to a temporary agistment centre until she could have him surrendered as she was not in a position to afford his care. She undoubtedly saved his life as another couple of days and he would not have lived.

Eclipse is now being fostered by long term members of Second Chance as we have his hooves, teeth and trust in humans restored. He is already showing signs of being accepting of his carers so we are confident he'll regain confidence in no time.
