Biography

Duchess is one of three mares that was sold into Second Chance's care for the grand total of $1. She and 4 others had escaped from their home and been found wandering. They were impounded and the owner notified however he took back 2 of the horses and left the others to their fate. Luckily for this girl Second Chance was notified of their plight and we contacted the authorities to confirm we would help if we could.

Duchess is a mess. She came to us with a body score of 2, deep cuts on two of her legs, many superficial scrapes, hooves that are breaking away causing her to walk on her soles and a damaged knee that bows when she walks. Duchess has seen a Vet and we hope that she will pick up soon.

Despite all her hurts, she walked straight into the trailer like a pro and has been an angel to handle in all respects.
