Beau

Second Chance's Beau

Biography

Beau was surrendered to Second Chance as a barely handled colt by a Real Estate company after he was abandoned on a rental property that they managed. His former owner had moved out, leaving him behind. They had owned him for approximately one year and from what we can see had done very little with him. They told the Property Manager that he had attacked their children, rearing and striking at them so they had thrown things like buckets and balls at him to make him back off. They also informed her that they had fed him on Weetbix, that he had not required any other nutrition.

Beau arrived with very overgrown hooves, it has been many, many months since they had seen a farrier. His teeth were in an appalling state causing lacerations to the delicate tissue inside his mouth and he was also underweight. Beau's growth too appears to have been stunted due to lack of adequate nutrition.

His behaviour assessment prior to surrender showed that he was nervous of people but catchable and halter broken. Since picking him up we have established that he is intelligent, sensible and has shown no sign whatsoever of even the slightest hint of aggression. We believe that if the story of his former bad behaviour is true, it is most likely because of fear and poor handling.

**Beau has been on TV! He featured on a March episode of "Can We Help?" which is on 6:30pm Saturday evenings on ABC**
