Biography |
Asha came to our attention when a concerned person notified us of her plight. We went to see her and were horrified at her condition. She was clearly not recieving adequate care and also was feeding her foal at foot which further drained her. She was scarred and dejected and at the time of our visit, we were informed that she had not recieved feed in approximately 4 days. Asha's story is a sad one. At the age of around 1 or 2, she suffered an injury to her right shoulder. It must have been very painful for her at the time however two equine Vets have both checked her out and she is not in any pain with this shoulder now although the poor condition of her feet at the time of surrender was certainly making her uncomfortable! It appears that this old injury was caused by knocking into something very hard. Her owners at the time immediately put her out in the paddock and from the age of 3 onwards, she has been producing foals without any care - living and running in what amounts to a brumby-like mob with her shoulder never treated or even looked at by a Vet. At the age of 12 she was plucked from this paddock and found her way to the person who surrendered her to us. They collected her in July, heavily pregnant with her next foal and was brought to suburbia. Since that time until she was surrendered (approx 7 months) she had been recieving inadequate feeding and in her entire life had not had any form of worming control nor any form of hoof or dental care.
