How To Adopt

To apply:
To apply for an adoption, you will be required to have and/or supply us with the following:

• We require that all adopting owners have a minimum of 2 years consistent horse care (and riding if you wish to take on a riding horse) experience is required prior to beginning any adoption. If you are interested in adopting a young, green horse or pony or one with specific rider requirements, we will of course expect that you have had sufficient experience to safely ride and handle that particular animal.
• Your Membership form and payment to become an SC Member if you are not already a Member.
• A completed Adoption Application form.
• A photocopy or scan of one form of Photograph Identification (either passport, driver's license or 18 Plus Card) and a secondary form of Identification that clearly shows your current residential address must be supplied with any Adoption Application Form.
• We also require 3 references - 3 separate persons to contact whom we can speak with in regards to your horse-related experience. Two of these must be recognised professionals in the horse industry such as your local veterinarian, your farrier, dental practitioner, former employer if you have worked in the horse industry or riding instructor/coach etc.
