Welcome to the Second Chance Horse Rescue Website. We hope that you will find the content inspiring and educational. Second Chance Horse Rescue is a small Incorporated, non profit organisation dedicated to the welfare of all equines in Western Australia. We are run entirely by unpaid Volunteers and we are a self funded organisation. We are governed by a constitution and a management committee comprised of dedicated individuals with a variety of skills relevant to our aims.

We also have a range of services in place to assist all horse owners on many levels. If you are in need of help in regards to any equine related issue we are willing to help. Please click on the services link above to find out more about this.

Second Chance Quiz Night

The Quiz night was a huge success with a good time had by everyone, and the best news of all - we raised $1942.95 - hooray!

Hey hey trivia fans, we have a date set for our quiz night this year - Friday 4th November, at Perth Football Club. So put the date in your calendar, start getting teams together, and brushing up on just about any topic you can imagine...

We are of course seeking sponsors/prize donors for this event, so if you would like to contribute goods, services or vouchers, please send me an email at pr@schrar.org
Prizes large and small are all desired! All sponsors will be acknowledged in all event promotion, on our forum and FB site (over 5000 fans) and on the night.

Jessie Barbour Resigns

It is with profound regret that Second Chance Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation announces the resignation of our founder Jessie Barbour. Jessie started the concept of a sanctuary for abandoned, abused or neglected horses about seven years ago.
The foresight and devotion that has been involved in getting this organisation started and keeping it going has been unbelievable.

After starting Second Chance in 2006, Jessie devoted most of her personal time to establishing a concept for the care and upkeep for equines that may not have another chance at a new life. We hope to bring them a Second Chance.
Jessie has been deeply involved with Second Chance as an almost full-time volunteer and has attended to the demands of various roles that are required by SCHRAR, including our President and Chief Field Officer.

However, after 6 years, health issues have convinced Jessie to take a step back and spend more time with her family, and her own horses.

Second Chance’s committee, members and horses are deeply grateful for Jessie’s amazing contribution, and wish her all the best for the future.

21st June 2011 - We are pleased to announce Alkapellet PH Plus as our proud new sponsor !

Alkapellet PH PLUS has been developed to help the large intestine (hind gut) to keep producing the "good bacteria" and help your horse from having acid problems.

20th March 2011 - Congratulations SC's President!

Everyone at Second Chance would like to extend their congratulations to Second Chance's President, Angela and her new husband who were married today in a beautiful church ceremony.

24th February 2011 - Spirit's Big Day

Second Chance's Spirit today experienced turn out in a large paddock for the first time in his life.

19th February 2011 - Four Welsh Ponies Surrendered To Second Chance

4 unregistered Welsh ponies arrived into care today, all four completely unhandled and suffering from horrifically overgrown hooves. You can find out more about these ponies by clicking here.

31st October 2010 - Today's Ride For A Rescue was a great success!

HUGE thanks to Angela our President who organised this event, she did a fantastic job and the whole day ran smoothly and I know everyone had a great time.
